My folks been on 2D mobile for a while, and today I moved them to an Android phone from the brick they had.

But upon trying to setup various apps, found that they are not getting the short code texts from o/seas providers for 2FA etc such as Uber, and Life360.

Local texts (OneNZ to 2D) works fine.

Their 2D account was on hold for some reason, but got that running again, but wouldn't think that'd stop texts now everything is enabled again.

Ideas/fixes ? :D

Please don't make me ring 2D...... :D

If the SMS are not in the spam folder you would need to check with the A party support (sending) as 2degrees can only deliver what reaches the SMS gateway

Send me the MSISDNs (and some time & date you think they should have got one) and I can check we're actually receiving them at all.

I have said this before; a lot of international services do not honour number porting aka when numbers are moved away from their home carrier, 021 ONENZ, 022 2degress, 027 Spark

Can you confirm their number on 2degress is an 022 number?

Its 100% a 2D number, was a new SIM purchased when I got them a new phone a while back.

Well that answers my other question about whether it had ever been ported out. :-/

Bought another SIM with new number, that ones working fine.

So who knows with the other one....  thankfully hardly anyone had that number so switching isnt a big thing.

@SaltyNZ So it was a recycled 2d number that had ported out and then returned to the home network?

No, always 2D. We just never received anything.
