After the not-so-flattering XT launch (Pricing wise), is anyone else hanging out for the 2Degrees launch, hoping for better pricing? After being in the US, and Aussie for a couple of months over the last few years and seeing how cheap everything is Mobile-wise, I wish they could do something like that here in NZ.

So, is anyone else hanging out, hoping for better pricing for us NZ'ers?

As much as I feel XT is technically superior, if 2degrees offers far superior pricing to Telecom XT and Vodafone then they will become the obvious choice.

At the moment, I'm happy with my Telecom CDMA phone - so yes I'm hanging out for 2degrees to launch, so I can see what they have to offer in comparison to the big two.

Of course, 2degrees will have to have some decent off-net offerings as well, because the majority of phone users will stick with Telecom and Vodafone I feel.

other thing will be the qual of service provided too, e.g if 2 degrees was cheaper and their customer service was awful then yeah I prob wouldn't use them.
I just hope that too much expectation doesn't build tho on them

Im definatley waiting for @d, Xt pricing for plans doesnt suit my mobile usage (mainly nights and weekends as im unable to use a mobile during the day at work), and the mobile subsidies are only significant if the plan chosen is $100 or so a month. Even the option of $150 subsidy by transferring my cdma over for a 24 month contract is less than impressive, so I'll be waiting till august.
If 2d has off net plan pricing (being thats when i use my phone) then i'll be swapping to them straight away.

Yes I am certainly hanging out to have a look at 2 degrees pricing. At present I am on Telecoms Flexi Myime 200 which costs me $30 per month. As all off peak plans have now been discontinued on the XT network the nearest option would be $79.95 per month for 180 minutes.

As I was not amused I emailed Paul Reynolds the CEO of telecom to tell him of my disgust with their price hikes and received a reply. The email address is   paul.reynolds@telecom.co.nz  I do hope more disgruntled customers email telecom management and tell them what you think of their price hikes.

Basically he was trying to say that the XT network offered excellent value for money, even after I told him that in my case shifting to XP would cost me a extra $50 per month for 20 less minutes of calling per month, plus the cost of buying a UMTS phone. These people don't seem to click that the world is in a severe recession.

wow, that does seem out of touch really.

Yea, the additional costs are huge for me as well to get same level of calling as I do now, so basically cdma it is till 2 degrees launches and hopefully produces a plan suited to my/our needs.
Does add to my theory of XT being targeted at data and high end users, the next few months will be v. interesting.

If 2 degrees gains rapid market share, especially at the low end of the market where there is the biggest pool of prospective customers TCOM and Vfone will have to lower prices to be competitive.

Def hanging fire for 2deg if they offer better per-minute rates and the decent voice quality i'm used to while using gsm/wcdma abroad.

yes im certainly waiting for the pricing of 2degrees....i have worked in australia for the past year so i did get used to the very very good rates there, and after returning home i feel the current 2 networks prices are way to high...... i do hope 2degrees brings some competition in the market.....
