I developed a taskbar usage meter for Snap using C# (.net 2.0 fw). Since moving over from Xnet I missed being able to see my usage at a glance. I've been running it myself for a couple of weeks and it seems pretty stable.

If there's enough interest I will post it up!

I'd be very keen on getting my hands on this, you should contact RalphFromSnap to see if they are interested in testing it and providing it as an official download (I don't see why not).

If they want it to be independently tested, I'd be happy to do that for you.

found an issue with it last night when used with a wifi connection (regarding the delay in connecting to the internet). i have hopefully fixed that, so i'll re-test it after work, and if it is fixed i'll post a link!

as for Snap making it official, we'll see how it goes... i'm a developer not a graphic designer, so while it is very functional it's not the prettiest :)

If SNAP are ok with it, you could also add functionality so that you could have it use the web interface to purchase extra data blocks for you. With suitable confirmations and warnings about incurred costs etc etc.

I did think about that, but then I thought, hmmm... I would really need to have the user re-login otherwise anybody with access to the computer could buy more datablocks if the app was running and setup :O

Then I thought, well if they have to re-login it's probably just as quick to do it through the Snap interface??? Something to think about, but there'd definately have to be a security step (re-enter password) involved.

Yeah, definitely.. but it could be as simple as "Right Click -> Buy Data Block -> XGB". Dialog pops up:

WARNING WARNING blah blah EXTRA CHARGES to your account, You must be the bill payer, etc.

You are about to purchase an X GB data block priced at $(value scraped from site).

Enter your SNAP Internet password, and click BUY DATA BLOCK to confirm.

Password: _____________

[BUY DATA BLOCK] [AAAAA GET ME OUT OF HERE!]

Noting of course, that it's just a precautionary measure. The other way to do it would just be to make the menu selection open up the browser to the right place. But given the use of javascript and stuff on the Snap site, that may not be easy. Talk to Ralph, see what they say. :)

Good idea, I've been over my cap a couple times and it slows right down - the user website from Snap becomes unusable, so I normally call them to get it raised (which is quick and painless).  A way to do this quickly online would be nice.

As promised:

edit: (new link)

It requires the .NET2.0 framework.

Let me know how it goes.

Works well. very quick to get stats, seems quite light on resources.

My only gripe is that it's an installer.. it's so simple, that a basic executable would be a nice alternative.

Oh, that and it doesn't fetch data usage of my netblock... :) (I honestly didn't expect that, so don't worry about it)
