Hi all

I'll be switching directly from Vodafone to Slingshot this Friday (12 June). Supposedly I'm the first person to do that and avoid going through telecom, extra expense and time.

My dealings with Slingshot have been really good so far, I'll post some feedback on how the actual service is compared to vodafone - on paper the TNBT 2 compared to the $90 red pack look much better... extra 5gb, bankable data, free offpeak data and free phone options like call waiting, ID, voicemail.

sounds good, i have been a slingshot customer for about 5 years now, neva had any major issues

I switched directly from vodafone's red network to next big thing 3 last week.... well started the process a week ago - Hopefully it goes smoother for you than me, started it on thursday the 4th, people couldn't ring us after that until monday the 8th, internet went down on saturday and got it back up on monday night :)...

They were quite helpful about it, but a pparently all the automated systems failed, and over the weekend there was no-body there with the skills to do it manually. - So once they fix their systems to account for people already on the red network, should be much better :)

Stinkin' Liars! Yes Jords, you have my permisson to *feel special*

Got the modem by courier last night to add to the collection, hopefully internet will be running quickly as my GF is about to finish an assignment. Also I've gone over my vodafone cap, the speed at the moment is only good for BBS services, Duke Nukem and Doom if I can figure out my soundblaster IRQ and DMA settings.

Nice to see there is a slingshot rep that frequents these forums as well.

Yes ScottH, it is all fine now - There was a guy called Luke in the technical team who was very helpful and had initiative , setup a temporary testing account so we could use the internet while our main account was being sorted out. It was a quite of a struggle to get through to anyone technical from the helpdesk though, and when the systems failed that was what really needed to happen.

I'm sure once more people have done this the kinks will have been worked out :) - We've been trying to switch to slingshot since about august last year, and it's very nice to finally be off vodafone....

The only thing that doesn't seem to be on our account is italk - We are on big thing #3 so should have it included, but I can't find any reference to it in the my account section on your website and we havn't been assigned a italk number as far as i know. Should i pm you our account details so you can have a look at this? Havn't rung the helpdesk about it, I have a mechanics exam tomorrow so don't have a lot of time :Z.

Just thought I'd report back on this

The switchover from vodafone to Slingshot happened yesterday when I was out and went flawlessly. All I had to do was update my user name and passwork on the router. All of the new (included) phone features are working great in ADSL connection is good. I tested off-peak data and downloaded 2.6GB last night which does not count towards my cap. My connection speed is only around 3MB/s which is what I was getting with vodafone.

Really impressed with the service, I'll be recommending to my friends to swap!

Thanks especially the 'Sky' at the call centre who managed my account for the changeover.

I'm assuming you're on the Red network already?

If so it explains why you can swap without going back to Telecom since Slingshot are just using Vodafone's Red network for their ULL service..Telecom have nothing to do with this process.

Yes, that's right. Even though I was on the red network they didn't seem to have a precendent for switching directly over without going through Telecom until recently.
