As this is my first post I am not sure whether this is in the correct forum.
I recently moved house and had to change plan (old one no longer exists). Old plan was 256K/128K, new one should be FS/128k. Speed tests before and after the move seem to be the same. I contacted Orcon helpdesk and they went through a number of diagnostics and proceeded to tell me that this was as fast as my line would go. I live in Hamilton so am not unbundled and use the Orcon supplied Speedstream 4200. I have tried connecting the laptop directly to the modem but nothing changed

What I want to ask is, can this be true?
When I talked to the helpdesk they got me to look at the following stats on the modem:
Status | ATU-C Current Tx Rate (bits/sec) | ATU-R Current Tx Rate (bits/sec) |
UP | 3360000 | 160000 |
System Time | Tx CRC | Tx FEC | Rx CRC | Rx FEC | LOS | SEF | LOS (sec) | SEF (sec) | Err (sec) | Rx (blocks) | Tx (blocks) | SNR | Atten. |
06-09-2009 07:23:13GMT | 1 | 0 | 0 | 2199 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 5719 | 100121 | 100121 | 12.0 | 45.5 |
My calculations suggest 3360000/1024/1024=3.2Mb/s (I think I am right here).
Also the SNR varies between 8 and 12, I know the lower is better but what is bad?
Thanks in advance
