Sound like you have a Naked DSL line. People also get it going from Vodafone to Slingshot via the Red Network. But I think Slingshot have managed to resolve that problem, but I have not heard of it been done.

There is also the 1 change per month rule on your line, so one month to goto telecom and the next month to goto to your desired provider.

It's one of the areas where Telecom seems to be gaming the system.

Ha? More like Telecom's systems actually work. Hardly Telecom Wholesales fault if Orcon can't do a new connection (I take it on their own network)? I'm pretty sure Telecom Wholesale has the ability to transfer Naked DSL to another Naked DSL provider on net or to even Phone + BB on net. Otherwise it' between Orcon, WXC and the customer to arrange a port of number from VFX if required and the customer needs to specify when they want their WXC service to stop with WXC with regards to nDSL.

Sounds if anything that Orcon need to sort their own problems out.

I had naked adsl, aka xnet fusion.

I moved last November to an Ocron Home+ plan without having to go back to Telecom first.

Hi,

Yea I moved to Orcon LLU from Xnet fine, but couldn't keep my phone number (well transfer it to Orcon) so that might be the problem?

We ported our number from Fusion to Orcon. There was a small charge for the port.

A temporary number was used during the move...

Should be able to go from Xnet naked to Orcon without a problem.

Let me know if you have problems and I will get someone to look into it for you.

Why wouldn't you keep your number? Providing you are staying within the same LICA there is no reason why you can't.
