GG Slingshot

"Access Denied (license_expired)

A license has expired on the Proxy, and your request is not permitted: "The SGOS license has expired"
A new license must be obtained.

For assistance, contact your network support team."

Get this on lots of pages, can't load YouTube vids, can't go to Geekzone.co.nz, Metacritic.com, IMDB.com.... only ay I am posting here is via tethering /w my phone.

Of course, the help line peons can't help. Nor does the website say there is a known problem.

I have had the same issue. Only just noticed it today on freeviewshop.co.nz and on GZ as well. I think it started happening after firefox was updated.

P.S. On slingshot as well.

I use IE8 so it's not a firefox issue.

Got connected with slingshot yesterday and already contemplating leaving.

Even though VF had crappy customer support and now very good value for money, at least everything worked...

CamH, Slingshot is way better for value and have just sorted out their prioritising stuff. I get great speeds and the off peak overnight is excellent!

This issue is with their caching service which is meant to improve speeds for the end user. You can request to be removed from this by calling the helpdesk.

Slingshot uses Blue Coat stuff for their transparent proxy and traffic management. A few might remember last year they also let the license run out too... you think they would learn.. apparently not

Slingshot's proxy is a royal pain in the rear.

Far more trouble than it's worth, and as soon as they start completely forcing it upon us customers, I'll be running far away.

I understand a few ISP's have been using Bluecoats, all have had issues and problems, and I understand Telecom are firing up a heap of them for the Big Time users, lucky Big Time users.
