usually each network customises the phones that they sell. EDIT: vodafone do it. not sure about telecom :P

So I assume if you buy a phone that is naturally on a different network it would have all these bits and pieces (e.g. vodafone live) that don't work over 2d?

anyone know what the deal is with this?

Vodafone customise their phones... not sure about Telecom... You can flash the phone back with the original software without the Vodafone bits and bobs.. never been brave enough to try it myself..

I put a 2? in a nokia 3120c voda customizations. When you hit the live key it brings up 2? site,with sim balance.

If you navigate your Menus to the "2 Degrees" menu, then there is an option for the 2 degrees settings to be sent to your phone "over the air". It will be like getting a TXT, and if you agree to applying the settings, then it will "customise your phone" to 2 Degrees.

Or go to this website where you can request the same thing to be sent to your phone (and see what phones are directly supported):
