Hi, I registered especially to ask this. Sorry if its already posted.
So today I got a 2degrees sim card from a friend at school, popped it in my iPhone(2G, not 3G) and have noticed a few things.

1. Extreme overheating. My phone was low on battery, charged it, 10 minutes later picked it up and it was hotter than it has EVER been. I think this may be related to EDGE on 2degrees? Because I think I remember in America people were having issues with overheating using EDGE?

2. Decreased battery life. I mean, it's only been a day so I can't say for sure, but I do think today it didn't last as long as it should have.

3. MOST ANNOYING. It was working absolutely fine at first. But after school put my voda sim in to check my txts and put my 2degrees sim in. I wasn't expecting any txts either so I didn't notice a problem, until I added my new number on my dad's phone and thought I'd test it with a txt. I got nothing. Checked the number 3 times, still nothing. Tried calling it. Straight to voicemail. I called 3 times, and about 10 minutes later I had 1 missed call ( ? ) on my iPhone, and it did not ring. My dad's phone is telecom, so I tried a vodafone. Nothing. I txted some friends and they did not get my txts. So I txted myself, and suddenly I got all the test txts at once and people got my messeges. Just 10 minutes ago I restarted phone and I'm having this problem AGAIN. Are other people having this issue?

Thanks, any help would be appreciated (:

My iPhone is charging again, and it's getting extremely hot. I'll put in my voda sim and see if it cools down and post.

The heat will not be because of 2D, unless EDGE really did scare it....

My phone is plugged in and is warm. I'm gonna leave it for the night now and hopefully it won't melt by tomorrow

do you have the correct data etc APN's in the iPhone?
under 3.0 its a quite horrible (bug) if you dont' have the correct Data APNs this can happen.. 3.1 when its released has seemed to fix it on my 3G at the moment. If you can give with it turn OFF push

3.. this happens sometimes.. even on vodafone. Seems the iphone doesn't register "I AM HERE" for some reason on 3.0 and a TXT out normally fixes itself. ( I have not seen the problem on 3.1 beta). If you want please report to apple in the correct manner and you'll either get thanks we already know about this and it has been merged into ticket # or they won't say anything so its a new bug and you may get an email when a new version comes out when its resolved..

Hi,

I have been using a 2D sim in my 3GS for a while and experienced no problems. Although I tend to only do data over WIFI or 3G.

Cheers, Alexis

There is a bit more to this than just what you wrote. I don't know the full details but highly recommend that you visit that website and install the carrier file or else you may still run into problems.

But then again youarebetterthanme?

Sim cards are made to meet a standard, so a sim card can't cause a phone to overheat etc without their being a fault or miss-configuration with the phone.

as previously stated i would check all your settings and get the carrier bundle off one of the websites

Any posts are personal comments and not that of my employer

Did you actually follow the advice and put the carrier bundle into your phone so that it is fully set up to go?

You do realise that after you apply that tiny update that it will not affect your Vodafone settings right? You can switch between SIMs at will without any problems and the iPhone will know which settings to use.
