You have rolled out the launch and offered some great stuff, in the weeks leading up to now you have been visable on the boards, facebook etc offering feedback driving interest etc.

However it now seems that the communication has reduced, I like many are fiercely interested in your feedback regarding best mates/fav's options as well as plenty of other are keen to find out your future stance on text plans.

Can we have some feedback on these two pressing topics just to give us closure or hope?

I imagine they are quite busy at the moment. On the whole their launch has been extremely well executed. Beats the Telecom XT launch hands down.

Sorry but they're not going to reveal any future plans, that's just commercially crazy, and they're certainly not that.

You'll just have to wait it out until they're ready for next steps.

Seriously, you guys demanding the numbers be released, further details on data plans etc need to back right off. Since when have Telecom and Vf been forthcoming with this information?

OK we expect better than that benchmark from 2d, but within reasonable bounds. They have a market to service, a dozen or so geeks does not constitute nor set the pace for the entire market.

Crazily, in the case of the numbers range, there is even some bright-spark suggesting they may grab a number and port to one of 2d competitors. Honestly - take a breath and think that one through in the context of demanding they release all available number combinations.

Give them a chance to sort through their website issues, bed down some of their systems, take stock of their network with its new load. Its Day 2!!! Relax ...

Good call walt12!
Eric Hertz said it all in his TV interviews - check the TVNZ and TV3 websites.

As suggested, raise this with WorldxChange. And please create a new discussion topic - please do not hijack discussions!

I'm sure the staff at 2D worked very hard the last couple of weeks and are now recovering from the after party. Give them a break, let's try next week when we can expect them to be back.

Call me impatient but I just want to know! :P

I can almost accept others views regarding best mates options being potentially non viable due to roaming issues however it would be nice for 2D to support that claim or refute it. Another overlooked aspect is best mates secures 2x 2D connections plus promote on-net calling so from my (probably ignorant) viewpoint it has spinoffs for provider as well as end user.

Apparently the "promotion of on-net calling" is contradictory to the stance taken by NZComms/2Degrees in complaing to the Commerce Commision about MTRs.

I don't see anything wrong with discounted rates for calling 2? mobiles, as at the moment, they do have to pay MTRs to other companies, and as their market share is low, they will not be getting a very large amount back (I'm also curious as to what 2?'s MTR is). If MTRs are reduced to zero-margin, I would think it is unreasonable to have on-net discounts, but until then, it is better for us that they charge a lesser rate to 2? and landlines, as otherwise all calling rates would be at the higher price point.

Nothing is wrong. But it is considered somewhat contradictory because the "on-net pricing" of the other two providers is something that 2 Degrees apparently pointed to as a barrier to competition (I might be wrong here on the details so someone can correct me).

What I'd most like to see is per-second rounding after the first minute on the voice calls, the full-minute rounding definitely took the shine off and prevented most people I know from just switching across.

I couldn't care for bestmates or tricky "pay in advance" SMS plans, I do utterly love the 9c for the international sms messages, we have been gouged on this for far too long and this is a great relief.

paradoxsm this is not to excuse 2 degrees for minute billing but as posted elsewhere a friend of mine made the point that even with minute billing 2degrees are always cheaper.

We know Vodafone are the most expensive for a 1:01 call due to minute billing (2x89c = $1.78)

On XT 1:01 costs 90c

2 degrees 1:01 costs 88c

And they get cheaper as the call goes on regardless of billing.

Like you I would prefer per second but my friends point is valid in a way. I use voip based callings cards to phone overseas forbabfew cents per minute and they are per minute charged. The cheaper it is per minute (base rate) the less important second billing becomes. At 89c per min it is almost criminal.
