I'm moving to Chch later this month and I work through the net and I'm researching a ISP.

How do you find snap naked dsl in CHch at peak time?

AS they state full speed, what is their full speed or even better what is full speed at peak time?

I would be grateful for honest comments!

David

It's hard to say, if you can give an example of a site people could check or run a download from it might help them give you an idea of what sort of speed to expect.

Otherwise some peak time https://www.speedtest.net/ results to Dublin and other places in Europe might be useful to you.

OK

Here are some sites that I frequently use. Maybe I'm expecting too much but I would be definitely be using Internet radio, and be on a couple of these sites simultaneously and the other half could be using voip as well.

We're on Snap's clothed DSL and usually get great speeds domestically and decent speeds Internationally. There are the occasional International slowdowns but they generally aren't too slow or for too long.

Note the terrible latency to Europe, not that that is the fault of Snap.

Obviously this isn't particularly peak time but I'd expect that to be fairly representative. I often get much faster International speeds during the day.

I've never seen a domestic speed issue so if you want uninterrupted VoIP then I would go for a New Zealand provider - if it's 2talk feel free to sign up with out referral code "nicetech" :)

It's more going to be your exchange/line/equipment/something than the fact that you are in Dunedin. Which is going to effect you no matter what DSL reselling ISP you use.

Just to follow up on this, we've been getting slow (50-150kB/s) speeds to the US for the last week or so unfortunately.

From an email response from Snap, they are aware of the issue but say it may take some time to resolve. No further details from them yet.
