Hi there,

Anyone had any luck getting Blackberries going on 2degrees? Pointless, I know given that Blackberries aren't exactly intended for prepaid SIM's with high Data pricing and no BB plans! But someone I know Just tried putting a 2degrees SIM in his Blackberry and got an "Invalid SIM" error. We tried another SIM that is definitely ok and still it failed.

Vodafone reckoned that we would need the 2degrees Network Settings? Eh? Thought that should be for data only, not the rest of the services? Sounds more like the phone is locked to me. But I thought that didn't really happen in NZ.

Anyone got any info on this?

just tested it on my blackberry (8100) and it works fine. 2degrees showing as the network and edge showing up instead of GPRS...

Hmmm, must be a problem with that specific handset. Must be a lock!

Cheers! :)

A week ago I would have said "But Vodafone don't lock handsets".
But after a conversation with a colleague last week, it turns out that they did for a while!
He had problems when he took an "unlocked" BB to Australia and had to get an unlock code from Brightpoint (NZ distributor for Vodafone).
