Cellsite locations in kml format as downloaded from MED's database are here.

Unfortunately a lot of 2degrees cellsites have no co-ordinates given so I haven't been able to map these.

I tried to upload onto google maps, but couldn't figure out how to show all the sites on the same map. Someone smarter than me may know how to do it.

EDIT: Thanks to whoever tidied up the link for me - wasn't sure if this is the right forum either, as the link also includes locations from Telecom, Vodafone and Woosh

Well judging by this, the 2degrees tower near me is mounted ontop of the big mast ontop of the telephone exchange (which is only like 2.2km away). No wonder I get excellent reception!

If you wanted to create a google page you could do something like this:

http://wooshinfo.googlepages.com/locations.html

But that means you would have to host it somewhere, but that's another option.

That is the same issue that I was having - not too bad for 2 degrees or woosh, but you can only show about 1/8 of the sites at time for vodafone and telecom.

If you could get the coverage of the respective networks overlaid on Google Earth as well, that would be good times.

Google will automatically find the co-ordinates of the towers as more people make requests in the area the site is located.

Google caches the requests and as more people try to find things in a particular area.
Google will learn the co-ordinates automatically.

(when using google earth, you may sometimes notice that it has patches that are more defined than others. This is due to the amount of requests in that area.

Most of the 2DM towers should have GPS units in them.

Interesting that it doesn't show the Queenstown sites - they may not be live to customers yet.

It is showing the Queenstown airport only when overlayed on Google earth, but no others.

Pretty acurate and inline with my own site lists which i have overlayed already.

One thing I do find interesting is there is only a site listed at Waikanae north of wellington.
I did the drive north on SH1 a few days ago.
Had very patchy coverage from Pukerua bay until I was roaming on Voda at Levin.

Strange that I roamed in randomly at Otaki on Voda, then back on to 2D with 1 bar. So there must be a site there, then had no coverage until I was in Levin when I was on full roaming.

Would be nice if 2D did something like this, with 2D coverage area, and the area which you start roaming on Voda. As it has been posted there seems to be a bit of a gap between the two.
