Hopefully someone can shed some light on this. I have tried this from 2 landlines which are both billed through Vodafone but wholesaled through Telecom.

Problem is that I tried ringing this 021 number which has now been ported to 2d from the above 2 lines which are at 2 different premises. Call would not connect. I get constant beep beep beep beep etc. But the ported 021 No. can ring those 2 landlines fine.

What's going on? Is it Vodafone's end or 2D's end?

I did ring 2D and let them know about this. They said someone will call me from their support team a day or two later.

Sounds to me like a Vodafone issue.

Give Vodafone a call and let them know the number you are having issues calling.

I know some smaller companies (worldexchange) werent connecting calls to 2D when 2D first launched, but Vodafone is smart enough not to run into the same issue and if they did, much more people would be complaining so i don't beleive it's that.

Quick question, have you tested it on a non Vodafone landline?

Have not tested on a non Vodafone line. Need to find someone who has both tolls and line with Telecom.

Prob better If I try from a 'pure' Telecom billed line first before ringing VF.

The beep-beep-beep is called NU tone (number unobtainable) , The issue will be most probably due to the porting and quite probably the call could be getting handed off with the incorrect HOC code (hand off Code),

I would probably say that it won't be 2degrees rejecting the call as it is probably not getting to them, quite possibly Telecom and if they have the wrong HOC code on them they may be going to another carrier and the call will get rejected. What also may have happened is that Telecom didn't get the port request or it's not completed so Telecom would still be sending it to the other carrier... same result NU

Now the only way to sort this is via 2 Degrees, they are responsible for the port, if it's not working they need to chase back through the porting process, they are ones responsible for sorting it for you as you are their customer and they are the GSP (Gaining Service Provider) so if your Mobile is not dialable from Telecom / vodafone / TC networks then they need to ensure the port has been done correctly by those networks,

Edited: You can ring Vodafone as they are your landline suppliers, but 2degrees should be responsible for ensuring the port is working correctly from all networks.

Well it depends, if he's calling as a Vodafone landline customer not able to call a mobile, then he should call Vodafone.

If he's calling as a 2degrees customer, not able to recieve calls from landlines, then call 2D.

Anyway, see what comes back with regards to the Telecom landline test.

Also, maverick - if you remember correctly, when WorldxChange customers couldn't make calls to 2d mobiles becuase WxC didn't want to sign the contract (or whatever), their customers had to call worldxchange to get it fixed, not 2d. I know it's probably a different issue but it's not always obvious who to call.

I would say trust me, as seeing what happens on ports and numbers not being able to be dialed after a port (I have seen the odd one or two), and knowing what It will take to get it resolved, my advice ring 2degrees .... but up to you

I rang 2D yesterday. They said support team will give me a call. I will repeat to them what maverick said in his 1st post.

As a basic process what happens with Porting is that,

1. Your New provider kicks off the Port at the requested time via the LNMP system of which all carriers have access.

2. All carriers that are applicable for the port modify there systems to add a HOC (Handoff code) to the number that is porting, so each number will be prefixed with the GSP (Gaining Service provider) HOC, Each carrier has it's own unique number, this HOC is critical as it is used to route the call to each carrier

3. Once each carrier have completed their updates it is visible in the LNMP system and then bascially the number port should be complete.

What does happen is that some carrier updates may be done incorrectly for whatever reason... and then the number may have the wrong HOC code applied to it so in effect sending it to the wrong carrier, so this is why it may work from some Networks but not others, some carriers got it right and have the correct HOC another may not.

I'm not saying that this is what has happened but it is best guess judging by the symptoms, It will probably take 2degrees a little bit of time to get up to speed with actual fault resolution as having only just started it is going to take them a while to work out the process, people to talk to , common faults and resolutions etc

Just got a call back from a 2D support staff who was very helpful. He said the the switching problem is at Vodafone's end and Vodafone have found out about the problem 20 minutes ago (something to do with ihug and their switching back in the days).

He said 1 by 1 all ported Numbers are being fixed and said within the next 24hrs everything should be working. He mentioned that this was only affecting Vodafone landline's.

I didn't read of of the posts in this thread, but Vodafone's RED Network is notoriously crap when it comes to recognising 2DM numbers.

You know, "billgates" just said that Vodafone is aware of the issue with 2degrees numbers on Vodafone landlines right? I'd say wait to say they're crap until they've claimed to have fixed it and there's still issues - which I can't imagine will happen.
