How do you set your phone to show the location you are in, when i had VF it came up with for eg Christchurch CBD.

Anyone know if this feature works on 2deg and how to set it.
My phone is a Nokia 1680.

I have a Nokia 1100 and a Nokia 1661 both have this feature. With a Vfone SIM both are showing cellsite locations. With a 2 degrees SIM card this feature is not working, I have rung customer services at 2 Degrees several times about cell broadcast and they say this feature is enabled on their network. Not working on both my phones with 2 degrees SIM's.

It has worked from day 1 for me here in New Plymouth. Just a thought though Bernard you are in an area which 2degrees have their own network going I am wondering if it is not enabled on their network but the rest of us are still seeing our location because we are roaming on the Vodafone network.

I also forgot to mention this in my previous post. As I live and work in Wellington I am using the 2 degrees network which is no go for this feature. But roaming on the Vfone network with a 2 degrees SIM card this feature will work.

In Auckland it also only shows the network code which my Windows Mobile phone does not recognise.

Cell broadcast works for me in Auckland on all the phones I've tried. Not that that includes any WinMo phones.

Hi Beenz
The definition here is I believe you want to see the alpha name of the cell "Christchurch CBD", presently 2d dont broadcast the alpha name as it requires more kit in the core.
Instead some phone will show the MNC/MCC 530/24 or NZ24 and the numeric cell ID which is made up of LAC and cellID, to summarise you would see"NZ24 7 12345" or "2degrees" and nothing.
If your seeing alpha names, you are roaming on VF and not on-net 2d

As per above, 2degrees do broadcast this at least in some place in Auckland. I guess its a work in progress, I'm sure they'll update other places soon.

I followed the instructions set the info to display and added channel 050 and now my motorola v360 displays 2 Degrees, Wainoni.

Perfect, thanks for the tips, by the way i am in Christchurch so it works down here.
