How do you set your phone to show the location you are in, when i had VF it came up with for eg Christchurch CBD.
Anyone know if this feature works on 2deg and how to set it.
My phone is a Nokia 1680.

kfella2000: It has worked from day 1 for me here in New Plymouth. Just a thought though Bernard you are in an area which 2degrees have their own network going I am wondering if it is not enabled on their network but the rest of us are still seeing our location because we are roaming on the Vodafone network.
You can never have enough Volvos!
Niel: In Auckland it also only shows the network code which my Windows Mobile phone does not recognise.

fuzzywuzzy: Hi Beenz
The definition here is I believe you want to see the alpha name of the cell "Christchurch CBD", presently 2d dont broadcast the alpha name as it requires more kit in the core.
Instead some phone will show the MNC/MCC 530/24 or NZ24 and the numeric cell ID which is made up of LAC and cellID, to summarise you would see"NZ24 7 12345" or "2degrees" and nothing.
If your seeing alpha names, you are roaming on VF and not on-net 2d
