Just read this post on the slingshot forums (http://forums.slingshot.co.nz/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2966). They're giving up on providing call waiting. It was one of the main reasons I managed to get my mother to sign up with slingshot. What a disappointment.

Only on The Next Big Thing plans though. PSTN Call waiting service will still be available.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Yeah, but I'm on TNBT. It's kinda stupid though, Vodafone sells it and Slingshot's just reselling VF's Red Network, so why can't Slingshot offer it too?

Slingshot are not selling it as it doesn't work to the level they desire.

So, to be clear, Call Waiting will no longer be available on TNBT on Slingshot?

Correct.

We can't provide the service reliably on NBT.

From our own work-arounds to purchased solutions there was nothing feasible.

That's ashame considering a big reason we joined up and signed into a contract was becuase Slingshot stated that Call Waiting would be "coming soon".

Does this mean i can cancel my contract without paying a termination fee??? hehe

You might be able to get away with that one, who knows.. but theres probably something in the contract saying "We can remove, change or add services, blah blah blah at any time we feel."

you know how it is. Contracts are usually very general rather than specific.

I am pissed though because that means I dont know if someones gonnna call.

Slingshot, can you confirm that this is Vodafone's fault? or are you reselling Telecom home lines, but using ADSL2+ on Vodafone's Red Network?

Am quite interested as to WHY Call waiting cannot be supplied, since every company i've been with has been able to do it, including Slingshot (about a year ago, without issues)

Slingshot are reselling Vodafones home line and broadband service but i believe their line services (call minder, three way calling etc..) are purchased separately and are nothing to do with Vodafone.

I signed my parents up to this too and i promised them that call waiting would be added soon as they relied on it quite a lot.... so they will be very angry when i tell them they will never be able to get it. (the kids tlak on the phone a lot)
