Insert the 2d sim and get the above message.

Does this mean this is a sim locked phone?

are you saying that your phone says "SE v640i Full Signal Strength but No Acess To Network"?

if you call customer services or email info@2degreesmobile.co.nz with the details of your sim from your sim pack they will be able to tell you if there is anything provisioned incorrectly for your SIM.

if it says something along the lines of "unable to read sim" then their maybe a fault with your sim, and you will have to get another one.

It shows NZ 24 and Vodafone as the preferred networks. I set NZ 24 to #1 and Vodafone to #2. Set the mode to GSM only. Full signal strength but always "No Access To Network" message.

Sim worked fine in another phone, hence the reason i thought it may be locked to just Voda sim cards.

I've tried a few other network settings but same result. Perhaps the 2d sim isnt compatible with the Sony Ericsson v640i? Not an imported phone, its a Vodafone NZ model with the vodafone live! etc on it.

A bunch of Sony Ericsson phones sold by VF a couple of years ago were network locked. Try asking VF for an unlock code.

Called BrightPoint as per the Vodafone website and the person said that the phone isnt locked. He said a locked phone will say invalid sim on startup, where this one starts up fine. Deleted Vodafone NZ from the preferred network settings and set search to automatic.. same result.

Got me stumped, can only come to the conclusion the phone is faulty but works perfectly with a Voda sim card?

Any others idea, i think i've fiddled with all of the network settings that can possibly be adjusted with no luck!
