Due to my underestimate of how much we saved with Vodafone Family, we're starting the process of porting back to Vodafone. Some of my kids now have very cool 022 numbers, which we want to keep.

I completed the port request via the Vodafone website and it was rejected despite all data being correct. The Vodafone porting team said there were some systems issues last Monday, so to try again.

I tried a different number, and it was rejected on the 2D side, twice.

Everyone agrees all sim serials, phone numbers etc are correct.

The Vodafone porting team took the matter up with 2D. After that, calling the 022 number results in the 2D network message "we didn't recognise the number you dialled".

I called Vodafone back, they say 2D is deactivating numbers before the porting process has had a chance to complete, and that's why the process has failed. The only thing I could do, they said, was to call 2D myself and instruct them to reactivate the number, because 2D was declining to do this when Vodafone requested it.

Come on guys, I'm entitled to port my number, and it shouldn't be taking large chunks of my time.

I think I saw somewhere that 2D doesn't allow custom 022 numbers to be ported until a certain amount of time has passed. I'll see whether I can confirm that.

Edit: Apparently I was mixing things up:

"Being able to change your number is very cool, but there are always a few that just seem to want to abuse the privilege. So, if you change your number and we find it for sale on TradeMe (or anywhere else for that matter) within six months of the SIM being activated we reserve the right to terminate the connection without notice or warning."

I'm not certain, but I wouldn't think so.

Hi Jonathan, sorry to hear about this. We are having a few issues with porting numbers in from Two Degrees... I don't think they were quite expecting to have to do so many at this stage.

Let me know if you do get completely stuck and I'll chase it up. You've got my email?

Cheers

Paul

August was a record month for the amount of numbers ported. Especially from Vfone to 2 degrees.

The first number is sorted now. 2Degrees reactivated it, requiring us to put in the sim in again and go through our part of the activation process, then Voda was able to complete the port.

Four more to do. Oy!
