Hi


I have an ex-NZ Telecom Nokia 2112 (bought in 2005) and was thinking of putting a 2 degrees SIM in it and giving it to the kids.


I tried it with a friend's 2 Degrees sim and it just gave me a recorded message to ring Telecom.


Is it useable for this network or is it now a paperweight?!

That's a CDMA device, not a GSM handset. It won't work.

Furthermore, that slot that looks like it takes a SIM is not actually a SIM slot :)

So is there any network left in NZ where it will work?

Or a charity that would be able to do something with it?

It'll work on Telecom CDMA or TelstraClear.

AFAIK Telstra Clear will no longer sert up numbers forCDMA phones since their contract with Telecom came to an end. They will support existing CDMA connections but, if I remember correctly, as they are now back to piggybacking on Vodafone's network they will only set up new connections on GSM phones.




I'd go on a Vegan diet but the delivery time from Vega is too long.

As of this moment, the TelstraClear site says:

"If you have a CDMA handset you would like to use instead of the Nokia 6275 - you will pay only $20 per month access. Talk to us to find out more."
