You can opt out of such messages in your settings on the website.

You will always get service messages advising of problems or outages etc but that's ok by me. I like to know it's not just me.

@ richms - you think its annoying for your provider to give you a one-off friendly reminder of how to seek help after you become a customer?

Personally I think it's a good move. Settling in is done for many, and they may have lost or thrown away their SIM packaging, and not have a clue what the helpdesk number is (it is very new after all, so asking friends and colleagues might well get answered with "Whiskey Tango Foxtrol is two degrees?"

Not when it wakes me up. There are entries on the sim for customer services and voice mail if you need them

Yes, wakes me up at 4:30. (I think it was more like 2:30 actually) I thought I had not consented to any marketing texts to be sent to me, that phone was on not silent because only a few people have the number and I can expect calls from them to be important so when I am having my nap during the day.

Turn off your phone if your daytime nap is important to ya. Jezz if they sent a text every week I would be concerned. I'm sure you can opt out ring them and ask.

Exactly Buttonmash. Vodafone is kinda lazy in that dept. Love 2degrees how they usually put customer first. The help desk is the best I've had so far. And I get to keep my $1 if I need to call them, so cant really complain about a few txts. :D

Now that I've read it properly, that's a very good point. Congratulations, 2degrees, for using the English language.

I wouldn't say that vodafone is lazy (I doubt that they're entering the text that you're sent using a cellphone), but that they're trying to fit into the "average txt customer" stereotype.
