Hi

I am tring to help an elderly Lady.

She is on the over 60's pay as you go telecom phone rate. Her Provider is ADSL Orcon ( I beleive )

I don't understand how that can be.. But I'm only trying to help..

Following trouble with her ADSL modem she went onto Dial up untill the ADSL modem issue was resolved. Orcon ( I believe ) gave her a number to get her connected which was not an 0800 number so her pay as you go bill from Telecom was $600.

What advice can I give her..

Have you heard of this sort of thnig happening before..

Thank you..

The issue is that the dial up number ( presuambly 0867XXXX) is classed as a local call, and is billable on her 60s+ plan.

Grey power mention that dial up internet will get charges on this plan.

I think your only option is to talk nicely to telecom and explain the situation and see what they propose,

( I asssume that her situation was not explained to Orcon when they put her on dial up, as they woudl assume that she was on a regular phone plan with free local calling)

Pageweon: No, she pays for local calls on her 60plus plan, the Orcon number will be the standard 0867...
