Was woken today by a call with no caller id... Would be great if you offered it network side so that it just got a message and no option to leave a voicemail regardless of phone beign on or off...

there is software Available for smart phones that offer you the option of rejecting anonymous phone calls automatically. maybe this could be a possibility for you i know they make one for nokia mobiles im looking at buying the program my self once i get some money together

Do Telecom or Vodafone offer such service?

I'd like to have the caller being advised of their call being reject doing to withholding their caller ID, rather then outright sending them to voicemail.

Bit O/T but I don't get what the big deal is with anonymous calls. What's so scary? I know people (mostly girls) who just won't answer them and go all stupid and act creeped out. Chances are the person at the other end already knows you and they obviously already have your number! I have an unlisted landline and it comes up as anonymous and it annoys me when some of my paranoid mates ignore it. I just don't get it

Blocked Caller ID would be nice if it was a premium service that's expensive. I hate not seeing caller id as I have no idea who it is, and whether I need to answer the call or not.

Do you go and cover the peephole on someones door after knocking on it?

To be perfectly honest, I seldom answer them. The chances of it being someone I want to talk to are so slim, and they generally are marketeers etc.

I have used software on a handset to do it, but the problem is when the phone doesnt get the call for whatever reason, it still goes to voicemail.

I think this is a case of personal preference. It won't be done at network level because some people don't want it.

at least 2 networks in the US offer it from what I have experienced, since my stupid voip provider made calls anon when dialing out if you don't buy a US number off them, so I had to use slingshot which passes the number properly. Sadly the implementation there still allows out of area calls thru which is apparently how all the marketeers dial out to get around it.

Some people don't want call waiting, yet they offer that at a network level to those that do quite well...

Its common courtesy.....if your not prepared to tell me who you are, then Im not prepared to take the call.

Id love to be able to reject them before they got to me, especially if they were told why.

i believe the software for smart phones can reject calls from private calls/people who have chosen not to show there caller id and also send them an sms but im not 100 cent sure this is the closest you could get to the service your after.

yeah, pisses me off when people withhold numbers for no valid reason, if I have caller display on my phone I should be able to use it.

The problem with the smart phone software is that if the call never hits the phone, or if you are on a call and it triggers call waiting, it will not happen.

If I am talking to someone I want to, and get "withheld waiting" you can guarentee that I will not put someone I want to be talking to on hold to speak to someone that I probably will just be telling to go away and then hanging up on.

Network side blocking has existed for years on PSTN in the states, is on some mobile networks and is a feature I want to see here. But extend it to all unavailable numbers not just withheld. I am sick of 000000 from telemarketers etc who just hide behind an overseas call center too. All the legit overseas calls come with working ID now, its just the 3rd world call centers that send all zeros so block em too...
