I have a website (hosted on Iserve servers)  www.wetlands.co.nz which has been serving without any problems but now appears to have been 'hijacked' by the iGrin page that says -

The Web Site that you have selected does not have a home page.

For more information please contact  igrin@igrin.co.nz
or visit our home page at http://www.igrin.co.nz/

Check out Competitive hosting prices and options: http://www.igrin.co.nz/

People not using Orcon as their ISP can see the site - people within the Orcon network get the above page.  iServe say it's Orcon's fault, iGrin (and I'm not) haven't had the courtesy to respond, am awaiting a response from Orcon (after 22 minutes on the phone to them) - a shame the customer has to do the running around when they're now all owned by Orcon.

I believe Orcon had an internal pointing problem a month or two ago but this was meant to be rectified - is anyone else still experiencing  the same issue?

It sounds like there's a DNS out of sync somewhere within Orcon.

Yes, I believe that is the problem too.

Have just had a call from iServe saying Orcon had asked them to call but they can't do anything about it and to call Orcon directly - which of course is what I'd done this morning.

Is there no internal process at Orcon for the various companies they've bought or does their customer have to continuously have their time wasted?

Isn't it refreshing when someone makes you feel like a customer.

Scott, from Orcon took hold of the problem and sorted it at Orcon's end (do whatever you can to hold on to that proactive member of staff Orcon).

I wonder how many other sites are lurking out there advertising iGrin's services?

More than likely Orcon's name servers held the zone file for that site at some point in time and no one told them that they had moved the zone to another DNS server which is why only people using Orcons DNS were pointed to the A record that they had in their zoen file.

I see this kind of problem on a near monthly basis, normally stems from people who don't fully understand how domains work tinkering with the many options found in an online zone file management account/pannel.

The site had been serving properly and there hadn't been any changes made - it was definitely an internal iGrin/Iserve/Orcon issue.

iGrin is a Whangarei/Northland ISP, or was anyway.
Orcon bought them out late last year.

Yes, the misdesigned network where customers are using the same DNS as holds authoritive records for hosted domains with the ISP.

Many an xtra customer has been blissfully unaware of the lapse of their domains for some time as a result of them still seeing it resolve and getting email from other xtra users a while back.
