Gidday all,

I have just bought a LG KU990i model from a parallel importer. Yeah, it was cheaper by $150 than compared to DSE and it's brand new works with calls and text straight away out of the box.

However I am having MAJOR issues trying to set it up to run the net, send e-mail or send and receive MMS. The profiles loaded are all UK vodafone. I have gone through all the settings provided by 2 Degrees online and have also spoken to a help desk person for about 30 minutes or so, but no joy.

Has anyone out there bought an overseas LG KU990i and got it running properly on 2 Degrees?? If so you help would be appreciated alot - I have spent hours trying different settings and so on but no luck what so ever. I can get the net to run on one of the settings but it's an original UK default and goes to google.co.uk.

HELP! If you have done it or know someone with it done please can you post a step by step to getting it fixed.

Thanks,

Andrew.

Ca you post a list of the exact setting names that you have been changing? The do differ between models and brands.

e.g. see this post:

Sure thing, hope it makes sense. Each area of the phone has it's own settings area which makes it a long process. So here is whats up:

2degrees says:

MMS Settings
WAP Gateway Port (WAP2): 8080
WAP Gateway Port (WAP1): 9201
WAP gateway IP: 118.148.1.118

Homepage: http://mms.2degreesmobile.net.nz:48090

APN: mms

However in my MSS settings I have these options:

This is adding a profile setting in Multimedia Msg Centre

Title -
MMSC URL -
MMS Proxy -
Connection Mode -
Access Point -
APN -

I am not sure what to do to get a connection set up for internet, I have used the WAP settings but 2degrees gives two options for these.

Internet Settings
Homepage:  http://m.2degreesmobile.co.nz/

APN:  internet

WAP Gateway Settings
WAP gateway IP: 118.148.1.118
WAP Gateway Port (WAP2): 8080
WAP Gateway Port (WAP1): 9201

Homepage:  http://m.2degreesmobile.co.nz/
APN: 2degrees

I basically cannot get any combination of these to work, I also dont really get the APN stuff. I know this stands for access point name but am slightly confused about it ...do I make a bunch of connection profiles for each thing?

This is what I have figured to do, it hasn't worked though of course.

Through the phone settings I go to connectivity. In here I select access points and add a new one. It gives me these options.

Connection Title -
Bearer -
Authentication -
Username -
Password -

The other thing is that in browser settings for the internet I have another selection of options. Here they are. This is done when choosing the profile option and selecting add new.

Service name-
Homepage-
Connection Mode-
IP Address - (this only allows me to enter a set amount of number like this 000.000.000.000 as you see 2degrees has a different combination, and I have been unable to shorten the length of these digits)
Proxy server port -
Security-
Access Point -

As you can understand that I am really not making progress. Tried alot of combos but no luck at all, I really hope someone has a phone of this model and has figured it all out.

Cheers

Andrew

Hey to anyone looking at setting this phone up.

Here are the settings, I was about to give it up but tried one more time and it seems to work.

Follow these steps:

Go to Phone Settings - Connectivity - Access Points - Add New. You will be making three (but I think 2 is all you need).

Enter as follows: Use these titles 2degrees Internet, 2degrees WAP, 2degrees MMS. Those are the 3 separate you will make, each one is the same except for the title.

Connection Title - 2degrees Internet
Bearer - UMTS
Authentication - PAP
Username - You dont need anything here
Password -  Or here.

Next steps ...

MMS. Go to Message Settings - Multimedia message - Multimedia msg. centre - add new

Title - 2degrees mms
MMSC URL - http://mms.2degreesmobile.net.nz:48090
MMS Proxy - 118.148.1.118
Connection Mode - UDP
Access Point - 2degrees MMS
APN - doesnt ask for it here.

And thats all I have done so far. I have not been able to send mail successfully yet and that may be the WAP setting.

Will post that when I figured out whats wrong there. Share it round - I was going wrong with the UDP part I think.

Just read that and realised I missed out the part about the internet.

Open the browser part and go to browser settings - profiles - add new.

Here are the settings:

Service name- 2 Degrees Internet
Homepage- http://m.2degreesmobile.co.nz/
Connection Mode- TCP without proxy
IP Address - I left it blank
Proxy server port - and this
Security- Not secure
Access Point - Select 2 degrees internet (you created that at the start)

OK OK - I think that is it. If I have forgotten something of figure something else out I will write it.

If you got some questions about the basic functions I could help you. I am probably not looking at adding a theme manager or anything as it sounds like too much hassle, but it would be cool to get some different styles. If anyone has a simple way to hack it without to much brick risk maybe you can start something up with regards to this phone. There are tons on trade me, so I am expecting a bunch of people with the same problems I had.

Cheers.
