Further to my earlier post regarding Slingshot
support

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=81&topicid=58932

I was forceably disconnected tonight, and when I reconnected (router
automatically reconnected - I didn't need to reboot) about 10 mins later
I find I can no longer receive SMTP traffic again.  Damn this is
getting stupid.  Interestingly my account anniversary is the 23rd...
coincidence.... <g>

Copy of email sent to Slingshot Support - replied to the last one, then
had to login to their website to send it cause they don't accept emails
directly to their support addy....

===

Further to this issue I was forceably disconnected tonight :

Can you please explain why (at least) SMTP is being blocked at the moment.  If this is not being blocked by Slingshot can you please advise who is blocking incoming connections to my IP address.

Thanks,

I phoned Slingshot and managed to get through to a CSR in under 10 mins so at least that has improved, or maybe it was just the time/day.  Anyways... CSR was polite and tried to help but basically couldn't and
reiterated that Slingshot do not block any ports.  Yay, thanks for that.  It must be the boogieman then. He suggested I call back tomorrow when someone more technical might be around.  Not holding my breath in that regard.

Has anyone had to deal with anything like this before?  It absolutely amazes me that an ISP would carry on like this.  What are my options here if they keep telling me they don't support *this*... surely they have other customer's running their own mail servers...

Any suggestions on how I can resolve this (other than switching ISPs - I'd rather sort this out) as I doubt the fix is going to be as easy as last time (i.e. posting on Geekzone :P)

Ok, stupid me, should been more careful about checking my external smtp. Turns out the site I was using (www.mxtoolbox.com) must have updated their scripts as their SMTP test fails (always passed before) with a timeout error, but other mail test sites work fine. Doh.

Sorry Slingshot, my bad :/
