Hi all,

Currently on Telstra Lightspeed 80GB plan @ $149 per month but with overage I usaually hit around 120-200GB per month so I'm getting hit hard for overage.

The reason I went with Telstra in the first place was that my old house nearby where I live now only used to get 3-4Mbps on ihug ADSL.

I'm looking at Orcon where I can get 200GB per month for a fair bit less then I pay now but I'm just worried about losing my speed (currently 10Mbps). i.e. on the purple plan $199 for 201GB cap with Orcon.

Questions:

I see that on the wesite they state you can upgrade from 128kps up speed but they dont say what that would cost, anyone know?

Also are there any geekzoners in Wilton, Wellington that have Orcon and can say what type of speed they are getting?

Cheers

If you are not in the ADSL2+ area (Plans not showing with the + once you type your address into the orcon website) it will cost $10 for you to upgrade your upload speed to fullspeed.

I have a Telecom cabinet accross the road (one of the new ones). Is it only Xtra that has gear in these or would my Orcon speed also benifit from this? I figure that if Orcon is all the way from the Exchange then its a long way away.

It would seem to me that your already on the cabinet at 10mbps but all i can say is the other side of the road must be a long way away I'm at 750~800 meters away from mine and getting 14.6mbps

Why not torrent if Im willing to pay for the usage.

In relation to the other post above I'm not on adsl at present I'm on cable that's why I don't know what kind of speed I'll get if I change.
