Hi there,

I'm seriously considering moving to Slingshot. I'm just curious how fast speeds actually are. I'm not worried how fast off peak speeds are, but the daytime speeds. I like to watch streaming video (sports) in the afternoons any time between 1pm-6pm. What are the speeds like during this time?

I live in the middle of Auckland CBD so should have no trouble with distance. Just wondering what other people's speeds are like during the day.

Thanks!

I've had Slingshot at home for about 4 months now. I'm on the Next Big Thing #3 plan and am connected to one of their unbundled exchanges which use the Vodafone Red network.

Download speeds during the day are rather quick. Torrents go at full tit 1MB/s+ easy which I am more than satisfied with.

Initially speeds at night in the free off-peak data time (1am-7am) were just as quick if not maybe a little bit quicker than daytime. However after leeching gallons of Gigs I suspect they have now throttled me somewhat as I now very rarely enjoy such speed.

One thing to note though is that they use a torrent cache/proxy which improves torrent speed substantially! Cool

I'm very satisfied with Slingshot and wouldn't dream of changing providers given my past dreadful ISP experiences. Slingshot are one of the few ISPs that have ADSL 2+ with free offpeak data. That feature alone adds a lot of value.
