Using a Motorola L6 phone on 2D which has been fine until this weekend when I found I was unable to send any SMS - gives me "Status 38" (Unable to send message).

Google gives me others having similar issues and are told to clear out their inbox etc as the phones full - mine is not however - all my mesasge boxes are clear.

Only thing different Ive done recently, is the SIM was used in an iPhone I was testing a for a couple of weeks. Was able to send messages from that fine.... this weekend though is the first time ive gone to send a txt since putting the SIM back into the Motorola.

Any ideas how to get the Motorola txting again ? Im pretty sure its not a 2D fault as such but more the phone....

TIA

First thing I would do would be to check that the SIM's SMS Centre number is still +64220227672, and if not, fix it. If it is, check that the handset is still set to read the Centre number off the SIM, and fix that if necessary, or configure the handset itself to that number.

In short, most likely, you're using the wrong SMS Centre address. :-)

IIRC Motorola likes to hide all that nasty stuff in inexplicable places, so I wouldn't feel at all stupid if I were you... Frustrated, yes, but not stupid.

Customer care may be able to walk you through it, if you give them a call?

Hmm funny thing is Ive looked online and found others with similar issues, and they get given step by step menus to go through - my phone seems to be missing the most important menu... might just reset the thing.

Hi Gavin - have you looked here?

> Messages > Inbox Setup> Text Msg Setup > Service Centre No.

Let me know if that helps.
Cheers

Thats the funny thing, the Text Msg Setup option wasnt there until I fully reset my phone - it is now and added in the correct number. :)

So all sorted now, thanks! :)
