So, with the removal of Big Time from Telecom and being over my teeny tiny 10GB cap on Telecom Broadband, I decided to make the jump elsewhere.

I have chosen Orcon, and just finished filling out the provisioning request online.. But I just wanted to get some feedback from other Orcon users (mainly the Orcon+ Network I guess) as to their experiences with speed, connection and the 'awesome' HomeHub modem router?

Just speil about Orcon really, cause I wanna hear it =]

Im on Orcon+ in Glenfield, I dont seem to have any issues with them - Im 2km as the cable lies from the exchange, getting approx 10mbps down and 8-900k up.

Everything seems to tick along nicely, Youtube has to wait to buffer on the odd occasion, TVNZ on Demand runs along well via the PS3, general day to day downloads come though nice and quick.

I dont game online via a PC anymore so cant comment on any gaming latency isues etc.

I dont use their HomeHub so cant comment on that. I love my 3Com unit :)

What do you do with your internet mainly ? Game, stream, download etc ? If you can give us a rough idea, you might get better answers - ie: if you game, then my saying YouTube buffers well isnt going to be much use for you ;)

haha thanks man that's really good information! I always find trouble defining myself and my internet habits are no different >.< generally I'd say the odd spot of gaming, youtube, torrents (legal ones of course :p), general downloading, lots of game patches(!), email... everything really!

So it's good to just get an overview of as many peoples experiences as possible =]

What's the difference to the customer of the Orcon+ Network?

Hopefully you'll have a better experience than most of the people here. Did you read the forums before joining, or were you like me and base your decision on the now extremely out-dated "Orcon's a good ISP" anecdotes heard over the years? Since joining I've been stunned at how awful they are. I feel like a fool for not doing my research first.
