When I call my 2talk 028 number from my Orcon landline, it fails with a message "We're sorry, the number you have entered is incorrect".  I can call 021 numbers from this landline.

Calling this 028 number from my vodofone mobile also works.  I ask a friend to call this 028 number from their Telecom landline and it also works for them.

Is there a problem calling 028 numbers from an Orcon landline ?  Anybody else experiencing this problem ?

There were initial issues with the 028 2talk number range because 2talk used incorrect length numbers thast were in breach of NAD guidelines.

What starting digits does your number begin with?

There is also a problem that these numbers are being claimed for cellular interconnect rates, rather than geographic/other. Most carriers resent that :-)

The number is 028 899 xxxx.  An additional 9 was added to the 028 89 number to conform with length rules from September 2009.

These numbers were a problem for a lot of operators as they had been incorrectly allocated by 2talk and required operators to make changes to their own systems to support these.

I thought all of these old 2talk numbers were 10 digits now (ie 28 + 8 digits)? The NAD says this is the case.
