Every few months we get problems trying to connect to Orcon (we're based in Wellington)

The Belkin four-port wired router we've had for 2.5 years gets loads of this type of thing in the log

ATM... dial timeout :< 52000

The Physical light is on, the credentials are correct.

It fails for our Orcon credentials and the user@jetstreamgames credential.

Does using the user@jetstreamgames credential completely rule Orcon out of the problem or could it still be related to their setup?

Just a follow up on this. After 36 hours and after having tried rebooting the router multiple times, turning the router off for 30 mins and turning back on, disconnecting other phones etc. etc. it just connects and is fine now.

I should mention that we are in a new subdivision and have had a number of problems with our phonelines. It took 3 months to initially get broadband and the quality of the ADSL connection we recieved seems lower than that of older houses around here.

We have had crossed lines, working ADSL but failed phone, working phone but failed ADSL and failed ADSL and phone.

Is it possible that Telecom/Chorus could have provided some sort of 'tideover' connection of dubious quality to the newer houses around here until they get around to their fabled 'cabinetisation' of the local area?

Basically - can they give you a crap ADSL port & phoneline if it suits them to do so?
