I have a little query and am wondering if someone else can confirm it with me?

I have a friend trying to SMS me from an Orange (O2) prepay cellphone in the UK. They are able to receive SMS from Vodafone/2degrees/Telecom but only Vodafone are able to receive SMS from her.

I have double and triple checked that all the numbers are correct etc... and it has been several hours since she has attempted sending the messages so a hold up somewhere is looking like less of a possibility.

We're unable to test calls due to credit restrictions but I'm not sure if that would make much of a difference.

Anyone have a similar experience?

is it a ported number or direct 022 number? And does 2d say they are partnered with them on their site?

No point testing with voice calls for SMS issues chalk and cheese

Hi 2 months ago had no problem sending and receiving texts between 2 degrees and Orange. I thought however that O2 was a seperate network to Orange?

Cheers for the answers, I've had a read of SaltyNZ's posts regarding SMS and now have a much greater understanding.

Also, I was confused about the network she was messaging from. She has tried both and I received the SMS messages this morning at ~1:30am. I have received three from her Orange mobile but nothing from her friend's O2 cell as yet.

Hi,

Send me a DM with yours and the O2 number and time of sending and I'll check if it reached our network.

Cheers
