New iPad 3G. Purchased new 2degrees SIM (retail normal size), called and arranged a SIM swap for a micro SIM.
Micro SIM came the next day.
Installed, called 2degrees customer care to finish the SIM swap.

Very good customer service, as usual. Went through the process. Rep understood everything that was required.
BUT, I was then unable to connect to 2degrees 3G service.  "No Service" shows where previously "Voda NZ" would show (originally had installed suppled voda micro sim, but never used, but this did correctly get signal bars).
Power cycled iPad, went through troubleshooting steps...

When I go Settings > Carrier > the "Carriers: Automatic" shows, but cannot be changed.
Unit will search, then display 2degress, vodafone NZ, telecom NZ.
2degrees is ticked. However, I get no "bars" indicating signal strength. This is same regardless of location.

Also under Settings > Cellular Data >
I do not have the option described in this thread . I do not have a "SIM Applications" option.

Perhaps this SIM is incorrect, maybe an iPhone 4 SIM?

I've called customer care first thing this morning, rep advised it would require passing up to broadband team, this is fine, I understand it is unusual and don't expect front line reps to be able to troubleshoot unusual issues.

Any ideas? Does anybody have an iPad with a 2degrees micro SIM up and running yet?
I'll update when I hear back from 2degrees.

Cheers,
Joseph.

Hmmm.... DM me the ICCID (not the MSISDN, the SIM number).

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

These comments are my own and do not represent the opinions of 2degrees.

2degrees you are awesome.
Insert new SIM, iPad immediately shows 4 bars signal. Set APN, 3G data is working.

Thank you very much indeed!

Cheers 2degrees, any telco or ISP could learn a lot from your customer service.
Quick, free, knowledgeable, and issues resolved promptly!

Thanks again Salty and 2DegreesCare, you guys are great.

Cheers,
Joseph

Hi guys,

I don't usually post to forums (just hide in the shadows) but I've become desperate without a working phone Laughing

I seem to have a similar problem with the 2degrees microSIM in my new iPhone 4. I did a SIM swap from my old 2degrees SIM, the old one stopped working but the new microSIM never started working.

The iPhone tells me that it's 'Waiting for activation' and has 'no service' where it would usually display reception bars. I tried an old Vodafone SIM that I cut down and it gave this message as well but then activated straight away and started working.

I suspect the transfer to the 2degrees microSIM may have failed in some way.

I called 2degrees customer support but they said it could take 3-4 days for their engineers to get back to me with a result.

Do you guys have any suggestions of things I can try in the interim or do I just need to wait it out?

The 'Waiting for activation' screen only comes on if the iPhone hasn't synced with iTunes yet. Did you try the 2degrees SIM after getting it to work with the Vodafone SIM?

If you did and it's still not working, PM me your SIM#(18 digits) and I'll look into it for you.

This is not the first time that I noticed the helpfulness of the 2degrees rep, and I am very impressed. Currently, I am with Vodafone prepay and still have some credit left. I will be quite inclinded to switch to 2degrees when my credit is about to run out.
