I had been quite happy with the Slingshot service after I switched from other ISP a few months ago until last week I could not use calling card to make toll calls. I could use the same phone card in office and other places, even tried in a friend's house with the same Slingshot plan as mine with all worked fine, so could rule out the problem with the calling card itself.

The first time I called Slingshot for technical support after about 20 minutes' wait I was told their system didn't support the use of calling card, probably the # key was not supported. When I told the guy I had no problem until this week and he said it had been a miracle it worked so long for you. By the way the calling card could be used without the # key(just need to wait for the timeout after PIN input) so it's not the problem with the # key detection in their phone system.

The second day I called again and this time I was told they were aware of the problem with the calling card but there's no estimated time for the fix.

Anyone with similar issue?

What is the actual issue?

After the PIN input ( which may be optionally terminated by the # key), I was told the PIN was invalid.

em i am having the same issue at the moment too.
I switched to slingshot too, been using their service about 10 days.
I can still use my phone card up to the last week, but the phone card stopped working this Friday.
I called the phone card company, and they checked my phone card connection, they said it should be working fine.
My issue is that after I dial the user ID, then there is no sound, then after a while, there is a voice saying that you call will be disconnected.
I called Slingshot about this issue too, their technician told me they are looking into the problem, and they dont know when the issue will be fixed.

Great!

It's obviously a DTMF issue of some sort. Do any other IVR's that require DTMF tones work?

DTMF detection seemed to be ok, at least I tried '1','2','3' to select a language before the PIN input and it seemed to be working fine, I didn't tried all other keys though.

I don't know where to find a IVR system to try all the other keys. Any suggestion? Thanks

But they must fix their system no matter what issue it got, there's nothing we can do.

I sometimes get this DTMF problem calling certain 0800 numbers that have IVR, but some others work fine. Not sure if its the same issue also affecting italk or just a separate issue.

Time to find a new industry!
