Hi all,

I've just been testing my connection to the internet via Snap using www.speedtest.net and www.pingtest.net.

I've noticed that for some months now I've never been able to get a value back for packet loss in the pingtest tests. Can someone explain to me why that might be?

I'm testing to Snap's Christchurch server hosting pingtest although it occurs to all the servers worldwide.

Cheers,

Patrick.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Works fine for me, packetloss always gives a result.  Although my ping and jitter is all over the place today!

Update your Java Client and ensure it has access to the internet via the Windows Firewall, it will also help a bunch if your router supports UPNP. Call the Snap help desk if you need help with anything - its probably a little out of scope for them but they are a helpful bunch.

Ok, so it's somehow related to my wireless router. When I connect to the router using a CAT cable, rather than using the wireless, then the pingtest works perfectly.

Cheers for everyone's advice!

Patrick.

Check if the router has any firewall options where it is set to drop icmp packets.

Also check the windows firewall settings for the machine for the wireless network connection.
