hey, i live in Christchurch and got a Vodem from Vodafone for cheap ($30) because of the earthquake.

what id like to know is what 2 degrees 3G speeds are like, Vodafone is painfully slow compared to Telecom.

that's the speed i get in Shirley, and it hardly changes, even when I'm outside.

Pick up a cheap SIM and try it out?  Your Vodem should work with a 2degrees SIM.

What model Vodem is it? If you've got older hardware (ie no HSUPA etc) you're not going to get better results no matter what network you're on.

That's a 3.6Mbps device that doesn't support HSUPA. You can't expect an awful lot from it.
