the GST rise is coming and apparently Orcon's getting new deals.

Which their marketing department touts as "better value than any of our plans ever have."

I suppose that means larger caps? So data/dollar ratio improves... according to Ragnor's theorem of client demographic induced congestion having better plans might mean more congestion though...

anyway, any ideas? any words off the grape vine?

As long as we can keep the essential function, like HK talking add-on and also our caller ID etc, I don't mind great deal on the price increase

I'd expect to see larger caps for less - currently I pay over $100 for 50GB naked DSL. Too much.

I'm currently paying $120 for 100gb. I'd quite like to go to 200gb, but $200 is a little expensive for me (we've got our home line with TC - mrs refuses to leave, and I can't be bothered with the hassle)

If they sorted out their youtube/streaming speed issues then I'd really have no problems with them, as Telecom were much better in this regard (although top speeds were lower).

I am actually quite happy with Orcon's service... I just really hope thatI can get a bigger cap, because the current 25GB is really not that great.. im finding im going over.

Even 40gb would be better than nothing.

How about less for less?

10GB NDSL for less than $70 would be good... no catches no conditions... Im not in the "RED"zone although I think I am in the Orcon + zone - thou that depends on who I talk to! - and I dont want to move my cellphone provider...

But Im guessing that the GST increase means we will see prices going up but with a little more "perceived value for money"...

Doing your best is much more important than being the best.

how? http://www.snap.net.nz/home/broadband/ it says $129.95, if you dont want them as your phone company its $139.95, who cares about $10? still cheapest internet i know of in nz

Well being brought up to think "take care of the pennies and the dollars take care of themselves" (plus being a student), $10 to me is enough.

Either way, it is still NOT $129. Its either 139, or more when bundled with phone.

Snap: $129 for 100GB + $45(or so, depending on your phone company) = $174/month

Orcon: $80 for Silver+ 5GB + $80 100GB block = $160/month for 105GB..
