Hey

Just ported my 027 number to 022 and since I have been on the pay monthly plan I notice I have not received any text messages from anyone on Vodafone.  I can send myself a text and get it and my wife, on 027, can send me texts and I get them.

However, all my 021 mates have told me they sent texts and I have no received them.

This is real frustrating now realizing I have performances at Uni this week and people may have been asking me to play for them and help them only to realize I have not received any texts.

Question is, has this been happening to others?  Is it a wide spread problem or is it isolated to me only?

I have a Sony Ericsson W995a which I bought from Telecom.

HELP!

I presume you mean you ported your 027xxxxxx to a 2Degree Mobile Sim/Service? and the 022 reference you made has nothing to do with it.

I presume also you have contacted your cell phone provider (2D) regarding this problem and not just posted a message on GZ to complain and hope someone can fix the problem without going to the official channels?

Thanks
Craig :-)

The 022 i mentioned in the post was 2Degs as a company.  I still have my 027 number with 2D (022)

Yes, have logged fault before posting.  However, just wanting to gauge how many people, if any, are having the same issue.

I have an 021 number on vodafone, but I have 2x friends who are with 2 degrees (Prev vodafone customers so are 021... but on 2 degrees), and I often get their txt replies between 1-4 hours late.

Vodafone have apparently been having problems receiving texts from the other networks (according to twitter).

I was "totally thrilled" on Friday to be sitting with my husband as he receives texts I had sent to him on Thursday when he was down country.

To the OP:

You are a brave man indeed for bringing up sms-related issues on the 2deg subforum...
I suggest you put on your flame retardant suit now, and then study the technical intricacies of sms contained in the stickied post on this forum.

cheers,
A happy 2deg customer (who does not text)

Chur.

Well, its all sorted now.  I would deem this problem a porting problem on Telecoms side.  The moment I decided to change my number to an 022 number the problem was not there.

Working fine now

It was not a Telecom problem. And they use different gateways anyway, so it could be working for 2degrees and not for others...

If the problem was with SMS from Vodafone to 2degrees then it is most likely an issue with the portability database, or at least the local copy on the Vodafone SMS gateway. If it isn't updated correctly then Vodafone would have been sending your SMS to Telecom who would have just dumped it as that number no longer existed on the Telecom Network as you had ported to 2degrees.

I blame Vodafone because if 2degrees portability database was wrong you would have not been able to get SMS from anyone.
