Hi Guys, as you can see below from the router connection details, speeds not very flash, can anyone confirm from the line attenuation/snr that it seems its about right? House wiring has been redone and the connection point to the pole outside the house (Im down a right-of-way) was redone a while back when noise appeared on the line. Plan is Orcon Max/Max.

Its never been good, quite a distance from the exchange I beleive, just wondering it theres any room for improvement.

Hi Duane, 40dB should be able to achieve a bit more than that (around 6Mb/s I would say) but that is based on attenuation alone, if your line is under pressure from the noise of other DSL services in the cable then things can be worse. Also there are the other suspects such as house wiring (which you say has been sorted, but how) and potential poor street wiring joints.

I have assumed you are not on a Orcon+ connection but on a Telecom wholesale connecton, but if you were and your area has been cabinetised then speeds could suffer. Also have you checked if you address is to be cabinetised anytime soon, see the following link.

This house used to have three phone lines and jack points all over the place. Basically removed all jacks except for the master one for the remaining phone line and had new cable run to the office where the dsl modem is. Speed before that was something like 3.2Mbit.

Unplugging the one phone and filter makes no difference, neither does changing the modem to that 1st jack point.

Cabinet looks to be schedualed for April 2011.
