I am on 2D having ported a contract from VF. My daughter has a 2D SIM card, Yesterday I sent her 4 texts and tried to call her serveral times. No texts got through and all calls either went dead or to VM.

I was pretty annoyed since I thought he was ignoring me(!) but in fact none of my messages had got through until serveral hours later when she powered her phone off and on again. She didn't know there were any problems because she had been texting her friends on VF and TC okay.

This is a bit worrying. I moved to 2D since I could port my number but if this is the sort of issue I could be facing I might not be around long which is a shame since the plans are so good.

Maybe your daughter's phone had partially "crashed" and wasn't accepting any texts or calls, until it was rebooted? I've seen that happen sometimes. Also, my daughter used to have a problem with her Nokia 6085 not receiving texts as she never deleted them, and once a certain point was reached (probably limited memory), that was it.
More importantly, is it good now?

I wonder if this is related to  a previous thread where Salty has said their was a "block in the pipeline of Texts" and resetting the phone has cleared the blockage?

Well she said she was sending and receiving fine to VF and TC but not receiving my of my texts. And when I tried to call her it either went dead or to VM.

It was okay the next day but it's still a worry.

I am going to give it another month. If I have further problems like this, I think I will just head back to VF. I don't want a new number - that's way too much trouble given the number of people who have my current one. It's worse than changing e-mail addresses - at least there you can possibly put a forwarding messaging on.

I shifted to 2D after 14 yrs with VF on contract, and it's the best thing I ever did. I kept my 021 number, and have had zero probs with calls or txts to and from the other carriers. I'd urge you to give them a really good go. 2D have done more to bring prices into line than anyone over the years, and I certainly think they're really nice people to deal with. I just couldn't stand the arrogance that VF showed to their customers.

The final straw was being banned from their forum without notice for questioning some of their policies, and suggesting alternatives.

Hi, sorry to hear this, can you PM me with the details below and we'll look into it: -

Your number
Your daughters 2D number
Times/date of texts or calls
You and your locations at the time
Make and model of phones
Is it just this number that's affected?

If you've recently ported there have been some issues since late last week with porting, on their side I hasten to add, not 2D.

Cheers
