Ok,so here's the low down people,I spoke to a Slingshot tech today,he was very helpful and probably gave away a bit more info than was meant to but Im starting to understand things a bit better now and here is my take on the "All You Can Eat" plan that oh so many of us have sighned up for.
Slingshot have said that download speeds would be as fast as our lines could handle yet when p2p sharing or large file downloads would be slightly slower than if on a capped plan, well it seems that according to the tech I spoke to the p2p and large file downloads are at the bottom of the priroty list as to them allocating bandwith, perfect example is myself on a payed movie site and as with downloading a 720p copy of the 1986 Night Of The Creeps today my speed started at around 111kbs and has dropped every since and is now sitting at a mere 38kbs,a movie that should take a few hours to download now takes anything up to an entire day or even longer.
Someone stated that anything that looks to good to be true usually is but when your paying to download a movie file with your hard earned cash it seems that like most others I too must now experience these primeval at best almost dial up speeds,I even contacted the movie site and they couldnt even believe that an isp provider could slow people down to such an extent, they even made the comment as to whats the point in downloading anything if its going to take you that amount of time.
My only suggestion to all is to bite your tounges, grin and bear it until the situation gets to the point that Slingshot find themselves on Fair Go,someone is bound to kick up a major stink about this and to the fact that they lock you into a 24month contract when changing over to All You Can Eat.
Not much more to add except hopefully I should see my 4.3gb download finish sometime tomorrow afternoon...hopefully
