Ive posted quite a few gripes concerning Slingshots poor download speeds lately.
Slingshot are apparently very aware of these issues according to a tech I spoke to yesturday.Their All You Can Eat plan has proved to be a nightmare for them and according to the tech they are currently rewriting the entire programme, the influx of customers they got with the idea of no data-cap has completely overloaded their system so to speak and people trying to download on P2P are experiencing such low speeds they are pulling their hair out at the roots so to speak.
However I was told that if so unhappy I would be swiitched back to a capped plan, their 40gb for $55.00 seems the best on offer yet I also see Snap are offering 100gb plus phone line for around $120.00 a month with fullspeed download.
Slingshot told me these issues wont be resolved until after xmas however it seems they have fallen into a similar trap as did Telecom when they attempted a similar plan.
All I can say is if no datacap is what you want then be patient,as much flack as Slingshot are taking at the moment I still have faith that they will resolve the issue...hopefully,fingers crossed..but not toes.

Mark my worlds it will not improve any time soon, there are two hard limitations they simply can not change easily.

#1
Given their cheap pricing they can't afford to buy more international bandwidth or maintain a better user to international bandwidth ratio to improve international performance.

#2
Your Line > Cabinet/Exchange > Backhaul > Handover Link > ISP Network >> etc

On any plan that is delivered over the Telecom wholesale network there are two limitations ISP's have to live with: Handover links and backhaul.. for whatever reason these are scarce resources and the guaranteed minimum performance per subscriber is low.

If you are on an ISP with mixed customer demographics (low, medium and high users) you will generally get good performance as the handover links and backhaul aren't congested. If you are on a ISP that has attracted a whole truckload of heavy downloaders you are screwed, these will always be congested and you will never get great speeds.

Look for this plan (AYCE) to get the axe in the future.

Support a locally made Linux based Operating System, try Linux Lite.

c71931f: Umm.. I thought they were limiting it to 10,000 anyway so they could cope etc with it?lol

Almost sounds like the 10,000 limit would have come from the engineers, while the AYCE would have been born straight out of a marketing departments brainstorming session.

If I was working there I'd be doing a daily 'i told you so' round past their offices.
