For a while now 'My remaining data allowance' section in Slingshot's online service is not showing anything. NO arrow anywhere. When I go to 'Manage my data usage', the numbers are even weirder. In TOTAL column our standard monthly data SHOWS 25GB, which is correct. Then it states in 'purchased a data blocks' that we have bought 3.79GB, totalling 28.79GB. In the USED column it says we have used 0 GM of the TOTAL column's figures, totalling minus 2.2GB. What the heck? Then, in the last REMAINING column it says exactly the same as in the TOTAL column - full 25GB of standard monthly data and the 3.79GB purchased data remaining, but then it says the total of those is 30.99GB. What on earth is going on? We have no way of knowing how much data we have used and if we are all of a sudden being charged for extra data we haven't even bought. Arrrgh! I've been on the phone to Slingshot for over 30 minutes now, that is just appalling.

Pic of my data confusion here:

I'm on the phone right now, on hold, just talked to customer support and it turns out the unused purchased data rolls over to the next billing cycle. This explains the 3.79GB bit. But apparently there is a technical problem in MY account, of all the accounts. Waiting to hear what the story is and what my current data usage is.

What's a backflip?! (so, I'd safely say the answer is 'no' Laughing)

hah backflip is a backservice that partners with slingshot, data usage to it is free (not charged for) but still counts towards your total usage. If you were using this service it could explain your discrepancy with your data usage :)

Oh, the customer service guy also said he has never seen 0 unused data with total negative GB balance before either.

It is puzzling though how Slingshot's email alert service knows when to send those "You have used XX% of your monthly data allowance" emails whereas the customer service is not able to tell, even roughly, what the current used data is.

It is a bit strange. can you pm me some details I can use to determine your account and something to identify yourself as the account holder (or someone with permissions for the account) and I'll have a look and see if I can find anything awry?

It's ok, they're looking into things as we 'speak'. I asked them to email me with the info when they find out. I hope they will :)

Have you tried the data usage api? http://www.slingshot.co.nz/MyAccount/api
sure looks strange.

Exactly same thing happened to me this month !

At start of this month I got charged for $50 for 50Gb even though I had some left from previous datablock but instead of it getting added to the datablock section, it got applied to the totals at the bottom which put me to -50GB and i was forced to use this data first instead of my allocated 25GB.

Called and they said they were going to get their technical department to look into it.

But they added 20GB to my account and looks like i am getting $25 refund on next bill (although never got an explaination or confirmation of this) so it's all kinda worked out.

Had auto renewal enabled on my Datablocks but decided to switch it off now and will just go back to buying them manually from now on.

I have same billing cycle as you (18th) and on Next Big Thing 2

cheers

Dave
