I think the one you've circled in black is the cyclical monthly fee, and the one that you've circled in red is everything else.

'Everything else' would include any data packs that you may have purchased, along with charges for any calling or messaging over and above what is included in your bundle.

you haven't used any Txts? or minutes over your included amount? or any international calls/txts? pxts?

isn't the bill itemised? Seems odd if it isn't.

Not that they didn't bother, its just their systems are new and may have missed you / they want to get every last cent from you! I mad a post about this months ago. But because the other two don't make the data packs auto regenerate they don't have to...

That's a 2 edged sword really.. if it's made to "auto regenerate" you'll have people complaining that 2degrees is taking money without asking.

Easiest way is to keep an eye out on your usage and buy another pack when it's close to finishing.

i wouldnt want it to regenerate, but a warning as to the fact i was low would have been nice. Im sure ive had reminders in the past.

they do actually.  well once at least

"If you do exceed your data allowance, we'll automatically Double your Data for $10.20 extra on Broadband Connect plan, and $30.60 extra on Broadband Super and Broadband Ultra. If you go over again, extra data costs just 11c per MB."
http://www.vodafone.co.nz/mobile-broadband/which-plan-is-right.jsp.

on the 4GB plan on XT for example:
"$29.95 for the next 4GB then after that 10c per MB"
http://www.telecom.co.nz/mobile/mobilebroadband/plansandpricing/monthly

both of these happen automatically.

So in other words, let's say you're on prepay and buy a mobile broadband data pack - say $50 for 3GB that is valid for 60 days. You finish that 3GB with 20 out of the 60 days left.

Now, if I'm interpreting 2degrees T&Cs correctly:

"To make it simple we?ll tell you when you?re almost out. It's such an easy way to control how much data you use."

2 degrees will tell you when you're almost out (http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/mobilebroadband/2gb) but not when you are out. So that means, either you stop using it the moment they tell you, or risk going over the limit and start paying at the rate of 10c a MB - $102.40/GB once you are out.

"The out of pack rate is 10c a MB. This rate applies when you have used all the data in your Pack but are still within the Pack expiry date. Outside of this period our standard rates apply."

From elsewhere, the standard rates are: "50c per megabyte to use mobile internet"

So does that mean that once those 60 days are up and you still haven't cancelled, the cost of your data becomes $512/GB?

Am I missing something here?

Why not make it simple for the customer and just let the data stop when you've used up your quota or your time limit?

Hi GSManiac,

Feel free to give us a bell on 200 from your cellphone, or 0800 022 022 and our Pay monthly accounts team will be able to help make sense of your bill.

Regarding data packs, at this time they do need to manually be re-purchased. However you should receive a text message when you are close to either using up all your data, or the package about to expire due to the date. If you don't get this message, please do contact us and we will have this looked into further.

We do make it relatively simple to check your data balance in a number of ways.

You can either use our USSD code for checking all balances including data

Dial *100*1# and call button

And via our website below

Cheers

Yeah but when your in the middle of a 100MB DL (that your unaware of) the SMS does not arrive till 5 minutes after its finished... It's annoying having to always check your balance.

Just another way to get more money...

Isn't it amazing now how some people get annoyed because "they" have to make a decision rather than someone else or something making it for them? It is a sign of the times but surely we should still all be capable of thinking and acting for ourselves....its called being a human!!
