Hi all,

2degrees has just launched a Christmas Cracker special which lets you top-up your PrePay connection anywhere from $50 to $150 and get that same amount discounted off a new 2degrees handset!

So for anyone wanting a great entry level Android 2.2, top-up $150 and get an IDEOS for only $149. Of course the offer applies to any other 2degrees handset as well.

Details here: http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/crackerchristmas

Cheers,
Tim

So if I took advantage of this offer, and got myself a shiny new phone, once I applied the top up, if I then converted to Pay Monthly then the top up balance would come across onto my Pay Monthly account - correct?

(Would just like to get confirmation before I rush in and do this. Thanks)

another way to look at it is that you buy the phone at full price and get some 'free' credit applied to your account between $50 and $150 - it works out exactly the same.
there is no reason whatsoever to topup any less than $150 with this offer unless the phone you want is less than $150 cost.

I guess it is in response to the vodafone $200 account credit offer. compared to that it's not that great since voda give you $200 prepaid credit on any phone over $199 - $50 more than 2D are willing to give.

There are two benefits over Vodafone's offer:
1. Your credit will last for 12 months vs. 3 on Vodafone
2. You can use the credit for anything - calling, text and data

Yes so it's not that great compared to the voda off, it's bloody brilliant compared to the voda offer and that's before factoring in that 2 Degrees is cheaper.

ah,  I hadn't noticed that.   You are right, that makes the voda deal look absolutely poo.

Or you could look at it that $150 on 2D is really $300 worth of off-net calling on VF...

I actually took advantage of this deal today, to get the Ideos for $149. This is a much better deal than the vodafone deal. The vodafone deal is essentially 225 free minutes to use over three months, which is worth a lot less than $200 to me (in fact it's almost worthless as I make very few calls). The 2degrees credit is the same as normal credit, and lasts for 12 months (and longer providing you top up within 12 months).
