Ya Dave really seems a bit ticked off doesn't he.

Wonder which ISP he went to.

I passed my monthly cap with 4 days to go and bought another 2Gb and within a few hours I got an email telling me that I'd reached 100% again, so I bought another 2Gb and then at midnight last night got the 100% message again. Even though I've hardly used the internet since the initial cap was exceeded. Clearly it's wrong and so I've wasted $10 for nothing. I do have wireless set up, but it's password protected, so it can't be that.

Rang Slingshot at 10.00am this morning, as soon as they opened, and hung up in frustration after 30 mins (after initally being told the wait was 6 minutes).

Just hopeless. Not at all surprising to see the story in the Herald on Sunday this morning.

Email Dave and ask him where he went and then just move providers, even if it costs you a dollar or two, if you can afford it.

An update.... I called again just now (8.45pm) and got straight through to someone. They reckon someone must have cracked the password on my wireless network ("it's relatively easy to do"). They've put me through to someone in the technical department. On hold waiting for them now..........
So, inevitably, I've ended up on-hold once again.

9.23pm - somene has answered!!
Sounds like it might be a case of having an old DSL-G604T (Gen I) with limited security features.

Check the wireless management page of your modem and see if you can block mac addresses that are not for your own computers, and set the security to WPA2. You might have to set your own MAC to "allowed". The MAC address is the "physical address" that comes up if you type into DOS:

ipconfig /all
