currently on pay monthly with 50MB data. unfortunately, my need for mobile data increases over time and i am outside 2degrees coverage. sometimes i will be using close to 500MB in one week and imagine buying 6x data packs. i have small requests for 2degrees:

1. can pay monthly users have flexible data setup? i dont want to move to different plan as i dont need more than 100 minutes a month for talk.

2. if option 1 is difficult to be implemented, can we please have different national data bundles? $6=50MB / $12=100MB / $18=150MB and so on (lite, average, heavy users)

3. if 1 and 2 are not possible, can we have option to buy and manage the data packs from the website

thank you

Is there WiFi around the places/areas where you use all your data? If there is and you currently phone doesn't have WiFi, then upgrade to a phone that does. (That's what I've done). For what you are spending on data you'd get your payback very quickly.

I'm using 95+% data over WiFi and the rest off the National Data Pack (except for when I had fat fingers and mistyped the command to buy more)

SteveOn, you have some interesting stuff to say, but man, sometimes you come across as having a real big chip on your shoulder.

Bummer. I didn't know if you had a phone with WiFi or not but thought Id make the suggestion anyway.

LOL nah. I got stung once for $100 because I had a DL and they didn't text me till 5 minutes after the DL was over: stating that my pack had run out and that I was on standard rates. I just believe it is a 'marketing' thing, after all it was my fault, but its everybody's fault because we don't constantly dial *#100# to check our balances every morning or every 30 minutes.

Anyway the topic is not about my stupidity...

it will be interesting to see if this new roaming agreement with Vodafone will effect these national broadband data packs. I'm assuming it will or why would they make a big deal about a new agreement.

You do realise you can buy multiple packs at any time? Thus enabling data allowances at multiples of 50MB. Then the oldest is consumed first and then the next one.

They're called "packs" for a reason.

yeah, this is exactly what i am worried about. it become tedious when you need to check the balance every day or so. it is better to offer one huge data pack for those heavy users outside 2degrees coverage.

i am well aware of this but im looking for something simpler, flexible and easier to manage. 50MB for national data pack is extremely small. i would like to spend some more of my time doing other things rather than calculating/estimating how much data pack i need in one month.

Okay, but in your view, what should a flexible data pack or add-on be?

1. for pay monthly users, they should have option to increase their monthly data bundle

2. there should be more options for national data pack 50MB / 150MB / 300MB etc

3. also 2degrees customer roaming on vodafone should also have the option to enjoy their data pack lasted more than 30 days

I'd like to ask - how do multiple 50MB appear on the *100# query? I haven't used the national pack in a long time, so don't really remember.

Still, I think 2degrees have struck a good balance between flexibility (you choose what you want, get as much as you need, when you need it) and usability (relatively good sized packs for the average user - bar the real data users, and easy to access - just a text and $6 away)

If #2 is pointless in my opinion since that's the same as sending the same text 2x, 3x,... to 233. You still end up with the data... but I will hold further comments until I get a clearer picture.

(Why can't I switch to ordinary GZ on my iPod? I've hit the "go normal" link at the bottom but all forum threads are rendered with the mobile site)

EDIT: Situation resolved - had to login to main site after logging into mobile site...

Now back to business:

#1 - Okay, you want a fixed data allowance addition to your Pay Monthly plan. Can't really say much as that's pretty reasonable but no one really does that except with the use of add-ons. The problem here really resides in why 2degrees had not made this recurring.

#2 - See above post, and now I get why you want fixed size increments. Still either one gets one or the other and not both. Fixed data allowances would allow #1 to work properly (because if 2degrees allows recurring national data, I doubt any "top up" packs would be recurring)

#3 - Good point but that's up to how 2degrees feels and what they've worked out.

I have an expiry question  ...

If I buy 2x 50MB national data packs at the same time, today, which of these two things happen?

1) The second pack kicks in when the first pack expires or runs out, then and its 30 day validity starts from that point - when it is first used

-or-

2) Both packs expire 30 days from today.

Does anyone know which one it is? I'm hoping I can stockpile data packs. This is for a backup internet connection where a 3G USB modem I bought on Friday will be plugged into a router with 3G fallback - I won't be interacting with it directly often so I'd like to set and forget rather than have to deal with it monthly.
