you guys should sell broadband and homelines, maybe wholesale through telstraclear's cable aswell as telecom and vodafone.

then we could all get nice cheap broadband and homelines!

good idea, no?

No. They should focus on mobile phone and get their towers up and running throughout the country

If I was 2degrees, I'd be concentrating on expanding my network first, before looking at any sort of reselling options.

Why? landlines in NZ will be a thing of the past in NZ soon and with LTE on the way... No point, please build your network out further!!!

I'm with Steve! Build out your data network and focus on cool handsets like the 8150 that ^MD just recommended me.

All this pissing about last week with an old vodem and now I can just use my phone as a wifi hot spot for the odd occation I need mobile data.

No, 2D would still have to make money somewhere so costs would still end up similar to what they are already through other ISPs.

How would they offer cheap landlines and internet by reselling somebody else's network?

You do realise these wholesale costs are set by the Commerce Commission and apply to every ISP? 2degrees would have to compete with major players who offer signirficantly more users as well as massive startup costs.

Agreed!! They definitely need to focus on getting their own towers up, especially in Dunedin. This is pretty much the only thing holding me back from getting a smart phone of some sort.

I wouldn't count the landline out just yet. Maybe in 10 years time it may start to decline but by then landlines will be migrating over to IP.

Yip, consumers need to get a truck load smarter about what they can do before land lines will really start to vanish.

I just dumped ours, for half the cost of the ll I've lite up 2 local call numbers and got them terminating on my mobile phone...

The bb and mbb guys are going to love me because I can see my data usage start to ramp up more and more with will drive my arpu up as well, but the guys with only land line business will be sad.

Quoted for goodness.

Silly idea to spread themselves thin, they are not a giant company like Telecom.

2degrees, keep on focussing on what you're doing well then improve and spread it! [i.e. mobile phones, pre paid etc...]
