Hi,

I recently got a new phone, and I am starting to have quite a few problems with it. I don't know if they are all related to the phone, or if some of it is related to the carrier (2 Degrees).

The phone is an HTC Touch 2, running windows Mobile 6.5 with Touch Flo interface (an HTC interface I believe).

The problems are listed below. Number 1 & 2 was a problem on my previous phone also, which I was also using on 2 degrees, however it is much worse on the new phone. It also seems regardless of how little or how much reception I have.

1. I don't receive txt messages for quite some time, and then I will get a flood of them all together. Sometimes they can be 6 hours old or more. Makes it very hard to communicate with people!

2. Someone tries to call me, and it goes straight to voicemail. The phone doesn't even do anything. I then later get a txt saying I have a voicemail message. Be nice if it rang!!

3. The phone can get extremely hot. I have only noticed this whilst it is charging. It can get to a point where I cannot pick up the phone. It seems to be covering the entire area on the back where the battery is.

4. I quite often get an error in any application pop up "The USB headset that you have connected is not compatible with this device. Please Remove it." Of course I havn't actually plugged anything in, and sometimes it will pop up so regularly that I can't even type a single word into a message. I'm not too sure, but I think the warmer the device is, the more often it happens.

These issues are quite annoying. Worst comes to worst I will get the phone replaced in the new year, but in the mean time I would like to try and find fixes to these problems!

Any help would be great! Thanks.

Do the same issues happen with your SIM in another handset?

Very basic trouble shooting

Did you buy it in a NZ store (Orb/DSE/etc) or from somewhere else (TradeMe/overseas/etc)?

With the phone getting that hot, and with it doing the whole USB headset thing it sounds like it might be a faulty phone or a seconds model. I would return it to where you purchased it and tell them. It could just be completely faulty out of the box.

I have already tried the sim in another phone, but I didn't receive any messages, so I'm thinking the carrier is the issue here.

The phone was purchased from a large chain store in Auckland, so it should be the rel deal.

I do have factory warranty for it, so I may be using that in the new year to get a replacement.

Was the other phone of the same model, or something else. I know that the HTC supposedly has all the right frequency/bands for 2degrees, but the fact it is bought in by Telecom for use on XT and Vodafone don't even offer it makes me wonder if there is an incompatibility in there somewhere.

With the overheating I'd get it swapped sooner rather than later - if it is getting that hot it could be a fire risk!

keewee I was thinking along the same lines.

I have also found this: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=85&topicid=73819
It is much the same problem - a ported VF number

After Christmas I will go and get a prepay XT sim. Have been considering it anyway as I don't live in 2D main data areas, so costs loads.
