14 December 2010

Attn: Mr Scott

Dear Mr Scott

I am writing to inform you that the service we ordered from your company have
not been supplied correctly telephone/broadband.

On 10 oct 2010 we moved from Actrix to slingshot(better place)my big mistake.
We are paying for elite plan 40 gb a month, but the internet is to slow we can't
use 40gb and slingshot call center is painful 60 min waiting.

This error put our lives in a difficult position, as we had to make some calls
to track our telephone provider because nobody knows who provide telephone for
us. This caused us considerable inconvenience.

I am writing to ask you to please let me out immediately without $149 "early
termination fee". Otherwise, we may have to look elsewhere for look after us.
Like The NZ Herald, David Fisher and other from the media.
Slingshot WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS WRONG AND ILLEGAL.

I look forward to hearing from you by return.

Yours sincerely

sure, tell people not to use slingshot, but the ISP choice in this price range is very limited. But alot of NZ'ers dont have the money to pay the likes of telecom/vodafone to get a better connection, so companies like slingshot is the last option for people on lower incomes or fixed incomes. You definitely get the service you pay for when you signup to a cheaper provider

agreed don't use caps, and I would probably remove references to illegal activity, unless you have a court conviction showing that. (otherwise your close to been slanderous)  besides its not illegal, it might be a breach of contract conditions but def. not illegal.

personally I would site them for contractual breach, unable to provide a minimum of service etc, however I would be careful here to make sure your not breaching their terms as well (i.e. p2p traffic might be managed even on your chosen plan, as such not giving you full lvl of service you think you should be getting)

personally i would prob still make you pay the early disconnection fee, issues with slingshot have been well known for the past year, and their service has had issues with prob growth management(???) as such when you moved over you must surely have done your research and seen some of the negative feed back esp if you have a new connection; or are you just reacting to bad press, and going somewhere a bit cheaper?

still at the end of the day, voting with your feet is the best way of displaying displeasure  and for which you should be commended esp if slingshot are giving an inadequate service/product.

I had arked for more than a week, no reply at all.

I am not sure we can win or not. Because in their tern and condition, they do not guaratee the boardband speed.

I don't think that just because they have had issues for the past year that this can be used as any type of excuse on Slingshot's part. I moved to SS about 6 months ago and had no reason to think there would be any problem - after all, their website quotes the, as "delivering the best nationwide broadband service in NZ".

Ok I see alot of these threads. Not only about slingshot either.

What you people need to realise is that paying for broadband / phone off an isp , is like any other service / purchasing a product.

They ALL say that thiers is the ultimate product / service.

So what do you do ?

You get reviews / opinions / benchmarks & results, from friends, the internet & even people working in the field.

For example NVIDIA & ATi / AMD  both claim that their top gfx card is the most powerful. But only by looking at benchmarks under the desired game/app will you find what others are getting.

For broadband however its a little more difficult - i will admit, as there are PC setup, home wiring, cabinet , backhaul , handover links & isp core limitations to take into account.
But regardless having a look at some reviews / experiences of others will give you a basis on what is being provided.

I myself am having wonderful speeds on slingshot AYCE plan. 780kb/s on steam downloads.
100-600kb/s downloads on FTP & p2p.
You tube buffering faster than is playing.

Also before pulling the plug you might want to consider trying to get them to resolve the issue.
Call 0800 89 2000  * ON a mobile  ( makes the wait minutes instead of hours )
If you check the Slingshot forums, they have been doing upgrades on the network as well.
